Description
Suarès (André) – Dauchez (André) – Simon (Lucien) – Cottet (Charles) *The Book of the Emerald*. Paris, printed for the Société du livre d’art, 1914. 1 volume, large quarto, full green morocco in a bordered slipcase. Geometric decoration on the covers comprising gilt lines and cold-embossed motifs. Plain spine with gilt author’s name and title, gilt head. Inside covers framed in green morocco with imitation-wood endpapers (bound by Esther Founès). Covers and spine preserved. Spine sun-faded. A fine copy free from foxing, though, as is often the case with this work, there are ink marks from the engraved woodcuts on the facing text. Copy on Arches No. 5 from the first edition of 100, printed for Madame Octave Homberg. This copy is enhanced by two superb colour watercolours, 16 x 10.5 cm, signed by André Dauchez. A rare work, printed in a run of just 150 copies and illustrated by three great painters with a passion for Brittany.
