Collected Works A fine set of five 19th-century missals and books of hours in 12mo format, bound in morocco leather, with all edges gilt. New Hours and Prayers. Paris, Gruel and Engelmann, undated (circa 1880). A very fine copy in full cherry morocco, entirely illustrated with colour chromolithographs. Roman parish missal. Paris, Gruel and Engelmann, 1885. A very fine black missal bound in full red morocco, with a gilt garland on the covers and burgundy moiré on the endpapers. (Bound by Gruel) Roman parish missal. Paris, Gruel and Engelmann, 1858. A very fine black missal bound in full midnight blue morocco, with silver-plated clasps; a crowned monogram in silver on the front cover; and royal blue moiré with fleurs-de-lis on the endpapers. The binding is embossed with the publisher’s name at the foot, though the inscription is illegible. Medieval Hours. Paris, Gruel and Engelmann, undated (circa 1860). A very fine copy, bound in full havana morocco, with silver-plated metal inlay decoration on the covers, silver-plated metal clasps, and gilt and chiselled edges. (Bound by Gruel) New Gothic Book of Hours based on manuscripts from the national libraries. Paris, published by Leroy Sécail, undated (circa 1880). A fine copy bound in full red morocco, with a Duseuil-style border and gilt initials on the covers. Some minor signs of wear. Gilt clasps. The volume is fully illustrated with colour chromolithographs.
