Description
Hippocrates – Littré (Émile) The Complete Works of Hippocrates. A new translation with the Greek text alongside. Paris, Baillière et fils, booksellers to the Imperial Academy of Medicine, 1839/1861. 10 volumes, quarto size, bound in havana-coloured half-maroquin with corner caps, ribbed spine with author, title, translator, volume number and date in gold lettering, gilt head. (Bound by V. Barbe). Complete set, published over a period of 22 years; scattered foxing throughout all volumes; water stains on the last two volumes. A copy in a very elegant binding with very wide margins, on strong paper. Enclosed is a postcard, dated 1886 and presumably from a bookseller, recommending the purchase of Mr Coulet’s *Hippocrate*, and we also enclose the invoice from V. Barbe, a bookbinder in Rennes, for this series, bound in 1887 for the sum of 264 francs.
