Toulouse, Forest, 1759. In-4 marbled fawn sheepskin, decorated ribbed spine, dark havana morocco title label, red edges (contemporary binding). Leather missing from the covers, the top and bottom edges, the corners and the lower panel of the spine; the lower cap is missing. FIRST EDITION of this rare work, characterised by its profound scholarship. It contains a BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATED TITLE PAGE engraved by L. F. Baour, a fold-out CHART entitled ‘Genealogy of the House of Toulouse’ and a PLATE engraved by L. F. Baour depicting a gold medal struck in honour of FERRÉOL DE LAFAGE, Lord of Saint-Martin, a Capitoul in 1672 and 1682. A COMPREHENSIVE general and alphabetical TABLE of the Capitouls from 1271 to the mid-18th century (pages 459 to 539). From the LIBRARY of the Marquis DADVISARD, with a heraldic bookplate pasted to the inside front cover, and subsequently from a member of the PAGÈSE family, Marquis de SAINT LIEUX, with a dry-embossed bookplate in the margin of the title page.
