Paris, Lahure, Rouveyre & Blond, 1883, in-8, 4 unnumbered leaves – 193 pp. – 3 unnumbered leaves, the last leaf blank – colour vignettes. Bradel binding in caramel-coloured half-maroquin, corners, spine decorated with gilt fillets, florets and arabesques, gilt glass and bottle in the centre, gilt head, untrimmed, original illustrated cover preserved. This volume is the first example of colour ‘gillotage’, a mechanical engraving process developed by Firmin Gillot, which earned the publisher and printer Lahure the gold medal at the Book Exhibition.
