Moulins, Desrosiers, 1838, in-4 (25.5 x 34 cm), engraved title page – 28 pp. – 63 unnumbered folios – 14 plates. First publication of a curious 15th-century manuscript held at the Royal Library, which had caught the attention of the Bourbonnais historian Achille Allier due to the figures who feature in it, either prominently or in passing. It is a collection of letters and allegorical poems exchanged between four individuals: G. Chastellain, Jean Robertet, M. de La Rière (squire to a Duchess of Bourbon) and M. de Montferrand (governor to Jacques de Bourbon). Following this correspondence is the collection known as the ‘Twelve Ladies’… a series of twelve poems on science, eloquence, profundity, the gravity of the senses, and so on. On the death of A. Allier, Desrosiers entrusted the publication to Louis Batissier, who wrote the introduction and the historical, critical and philological notes. The print run was limited to 300 copies. (See *L’Art en Province* II, p. 290 and III, pp. 45–52). - QUEYROY (collection).
