Description
MALGAIGNE (Joseph-François). Lectures on Orthopaedics delivered at the Faculty of Medicine in Paris. Compiled and published by Drs Félix Guyon and F. Panas.
Paris, Delahaye, 1862, in-8. VII–434 pp. – 5 plates with accompanying explanatory sheets. Dark green half-shagreen, ribbed spine, gilt fleurons. (Contemporary binding). - A fine copy.
First edition. 5 lithographic plates in black by Léveillé. Professor Malgaigne was responsible for significant advances in the field of orthopaedic surgery, as evidenced by the number of medical terms named after him. In particular, he was a pioneer in post-operative care, which he extended well beyond mere wound healing so as not to overlook any potential long-term effects.
