[BOUTET (Claude)]. The School of Miniature Painting: Or, The Art of Learning to Paint without a Master, and the Secrets of Producing the Most Beautiful Colours. New, expanded edition. Paris, Musier, 1769, in-12, 1f.-VIpp.-5ff.n.ch.-179pp.- A small intaglio engraving as a vignette. Contemporary binding in root-coloured fawn sheepskin, smooth decorated spine, title label, red edges. - Corners slightly bumped, minor scuffing to the binding, a few small foxing spots. This famous work, first published in 1672 under the title *Traité de la Mignature*, was reprinted around ten times during the 18th century. It contains information on the techniques of tempera, oil painting, enamelling and glass painting, frescoes, damascening, and ‘On the origin and progress of painting’… (Barbier II, 15).
