Brussels, Le Francq, 1788–1789, 5 volumes in-12, 2ff.–24pp.–XLVIIIpp.–357pp. – 2ff.–361pp. – 2ff.–398pp. – 2ff.-361pp.-2ff. – 2ff.-LIVpp.-1f.-344pp. (pagination errors). Fawn half-basane, smooth spines, gilt fillets, yellow edges. (Contemporary bindings). – One misplaced quire. Two slightly rubbed cap bands; otherwise a fine copy, in a simple contemporary binding. One of the many counterfeits of *Etudes de la nature*. Frontispiece engraved in intaglio by Godin and 4 fold-out plates, including a world map. ‘Paul & Virginie’ occupies Volume V, preceded by a lengthy note from the author. This Volume 5 is dated 1789, one year after the first publication of ‘Paul & Virginie’. The other volumes are dated 1788. The title medallions differ for each volume.
