Presented to Mr [ms:] Philippon de La Magdeleine, a member of several academies, a native of Lyon who brings honour to his homeland, and as much loved for his virtues and the qualities of his heart as he is distinguished by his talents (sic) by his friend and compatriot Delandine, the author of this work. 1813” (the ink has faded). – The bookbinder has retained the two sheets of binding labels. Delandine compiled the catalogues of his city’s library. (Quérard II, p. 437).
