Etampes, Dormann et Cerf, 1927; quarto, paperback. 377 pp. Spine rubbed. Illustrated with 71 black-and-white figures in the text and 12 colour plates. Numerous black headpieces and running bands. First edition printed in a run of 650 copies; one of the 600 printed on Dujardin paper, accompanied by a dedication by the author at the margin, and enhanced by a typewritten letter signed by Vavon, overlaid with a handwritten note congratulating his correspondent on catching a salmon. ‘The finest book ever published on trout fishing’, according to our excellent colleague Philippe Lucas.
