Greek text accompanied by its Latin translation. The work brings together, in particular, the works of Homer, Hesiod, Orpheus, Callimachus, Aratus, Theocritus, Moschus, Bion, Apollonius of Rhodes, Oppian, Quintus of Smyrna, Nonnus, as well as numerous other poets and authors of Greek antiquity. Printed in Greek and Roman type, decorated with woodcut headpieces, initials and tailpieces. Old verse galleries, with some loss of text affecting several pages. Missing endpaper. Full contemporary parchment, with a handwritten title in brown ink on the spine. Binding showing some slight wear to the spine. Nevertheless, a fairly well-preserved copy. A RARE FIRST EDITION (complete with both parts of the 1606 edition) of this important anthology of ancient Greek poetry, compiled and edited by the Swiss humanist philologist Jacques Lectius (1560–1611).
