ROCHEFORT. THEATRE OF SOPHOCLES, translated in full with commentary and a critical analysis of each play. Paris, published by Nyon the Elder & Sons, 1788.  2 volumes in-4° [4]-60-397 pp. and [4]-407-[1] pp., tortoiseshell-coloured calfskin, gilt lace framing the covers, plain decorated spine, speckled edges (publisher’s binding). Edition preceded by a treatise on the difficulties encountered in translating the Greek tragic poets and a biography of Sophocles. A copy with very wide margins, one of those printed on large-format paper. Provenance: Library of Paul Chenavard, architect from Lyon (stamp).
