Paris, Librairie centrale des beaux-arts, 1904–1908. 4 volumes, large folio, 40 × 30.5 cm, 2 ff., 83 plates & 2 + 2 folios, 89 plates & 2 folios, 91 plates & 2 folios, 87 plates, in the publisher’s green half-percale slipcases. First edition of this decorative encyclopaedia, published in 48 instalments, edited by M. P. Verneuil (1869–1942), one of the leading French decorators and theorists of plant ornamentation during the Art Nouveau period. Contains 350 plates (out of 384), some of which are chromolithographs or phototypes: reproductions of watercolours by A. Bailly, Colmet Daâge, de Schryver, Habert Dys, Védy, etc., drawings by A. Mucha, M. Méheut, Barberis, etc., and photographs by Plauszewski. Missing the title pages. A good copy. One plate, torn but with no missing material, has been roughly mended (with a ‘poet’s eyelet’).
