WEEKS (Andrew Gray, Jr.). Illustrations of diurnal lepidoptera, with descriptions. Boston, The University Press of Cambridge, 1905. In-4, 14.5 x 22 cm, XII + 118 pp., portrait-style frontispiece and 45 + 6 plates, contemporary green shagreen binding, with double fillet edging and gilt angular fleurons on the covers; title and author’s name gilt in the centre of the front cover; ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets; gilt edges. First edition of the first volume of this work on diurnal lepidoptera; the second volume was published in 1911. Illustrated with 45 colour lithographic plates, based on watercolours by J. Henry Blake, 6 photographic plates and a frontispiece portrait of Samuel Hubbard Scudder with a decorated scroll. Several quires are loose. The spine of the first quire, which is white, is stained. There is some damage with losses to the endpapers. A small scratch on the front cover; the spine is slightly rubbed. - Expert: Cédric and Ithier de FOUGEROLLE
