First print run of this major illustrated work (132 plates and nearly 600 sketches in the text) based on works by Gavarni, Harvey, Jacque, Daumier, Delacroix, Grandville and Daubigny: 12 engraved plates of flowers and birds, coloured and gummed; 105 wood-engraved plates of animals and human figures; 10 views of the garden; 3 portraits; an allegorical frontispiece; and a map.
