GOEDAERT (Johannes). *Metamorphosis et historia naturalis insectorum.*… Middelburg, Jacques Fierens, [1662]. In-8, 9 x 15.5 cm, 15 ff., 236 pp., 62 plates (numbered LXXIX), 18th-century binding in marbled brown calfskin, ribbed spine decorated with gilt motifs. First Latin edition of the first volume, translated from the Dutch and annotated by Johannes de Mey, of this seminal work on the metamorphosis of insects. Illustrated with a fine frontispiece, 63 copper-engraved plates (the last of which appears in the text) and the coat of arms of Hendrick (Henricus) Thibaut, Lord of Aagtekerke, opposite the dedication. The author’s frontispiece portrait is missing. A fine copy, from the library of A. Pleney (dry-stamped on the front half-title). Scratched library stamp on the title page.
