In-12, 10 x 17 cm, XXXII + 160, 4 folded plates & 144 pp., contemporary binding in speckled brown calfskin, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, ribbed spine decorated with gilt motifs. First edition, published eleven years after the *Treatise on the Preservation of Grain* of 1754. In this work, Duhamel du Monceau addresses the objections raised against his earlier methods and sets out new experiments as well as an improved method for preserving grain, notably through drying and ventilation. Illustrated with 4 engraved plates depicting, in particular, the devices and installations used for the preservation and treatment of grain. A fine copy. Pale marginal water stains.
