First edition of the section devoted to insects, in the form of an alphabetical dictionary, from the ‘Encyclopédique Panckoucke’, published in 206 volumes between 1782 and 1832.
The first volume contains the ‘preliminary discourse’ by François-Pierre Mauduyt de la Varenne. The last two volumes, published after Olivier’s death in 1814, were written by Latreille, his disciple, in collaboration with Jean-Baptiste Godart, Lepeletier de Saint-Fargeau, Audinet-Serville and Guérin-Méneville. The set is complete with the errata sheet from the final volume.
Two volumes, containing 397 plates, were published in 1830.
