LATREILLE (Pierre-André). General and Specific Natural History of Crustaceans and Insects… Paris, printed by F. Dufart, 1802–1805. 14 volumes in-8, 13 × 21 cm, modern binding in fawn half-basane, ribbed spine decorated with blind-stamped fillets, untrimmed.
First edition of Latreille’s major treatise. This seminal work, published in instalments, was a major contribution to Sonnini’s extensive *Cours complet d’histoire naturelle* as a continuation of Buffon’s work.
Illustrated with 112 plates (out of 113) engraved after Jacques-Eustache de Sève, and 8 folded tables. The last plate (CXII) is missing. Complete with the cardboard insert on folio G1 of volume 1 (bound at the end of Volume IV)
A very fine copy, with generous margins. A few rare foxing spots.
