BRONGNIART (Charles). A collection of 43 documents written by Charles Brongniart or having belonged to him: offprints, correspondence. 1843–1899. 2 volumes in-4, 23 x 30 cm, late 19th-century binding in fawn half-shagreen, ribbed spine, and a modern binding in brown half-shagreen, ribbed spine. Charles Brongniart (1859–1899) was a French entomologist and palaeontologist, who was awarded a Doctorate in Natural Sciences in 1894, a fellow of the Academy of Sciences, and an assistant in zoology at the Natural History Museum. Enclosed is a visiting card from Mrs Charles Brongniart expressing her thanks for condolences. • Obituary notice for Charles Brongniart, dated 18 April 1899, who died aged 40 at his home on Rue Linné, with the funeral service held at Saint-Étienne-du-Mont.
