VAILLANT (Sébastien). *Botanicon Parisiense*, or An Alphabetical List of Plants Found in the Vicinity of Paris… Leiden and Amsterdam, Jean & Herman Verbeek and Balthazar Lakeman, 1727. Folio, 25 x 49.5 cm, 18 leaves, XII pages, 2 leaves, 206 pages, 7 + 17 leaves, 33 plates, modern binding in red half-basane, ribbed spine decorated with gilt motifs. First French edition, published posthumously (the original Latin edition is from 1723), edited by Herman Boerhaave, of one of the earliest illustrated floras of the Paris region, significant for the history of pre-Linnaean botany. Illustrated with 354 figures on 33 plates engraved by Jan Wandelaar after Claude Aubriet, painter to the King’s Cabinet. Without the portrait of Vaillant and the map of the Paris area.
