CUVIER (Georges). The Animal Kingdom Classified According to its Organisation, to Serve as a Basis for the Natural History of Animals and as an Introduction to Comparative Anatomy. Paris, Fortin and Masson, [1836–1849]. 20 quarto volumes, 18 × 26.5 cm, contemporary binding in red half-shagreen with corner pieces, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets, gilt heads. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece title, repeated in each volume, and 993 engraved plates, watercoloured at the time, mounted on tabs. Good condition.
