STRUVE (Henri). An Analytical Method for Fossils, Based on their External Characteristics… Paris, Imprimerie des Sciences et Arts, 1798. In-8, 13 x 21, XII pp., 1 f., 174 pp., 2 pl., contemporary binding in green half-basane, spine decorated with gilt faux-ribbing, entirely untrimmed. First French edition of this method based on the external characteristics of minerals (colour, lustre, fracture, hardness, etc.). The original was published in Lausanne the previous year. Illustrated with 2 watercolour plates of mineral colours, the use of which constitutes an important aspect of Struve’s method.
