[PLUCHE (Abbé Noël-Antoine)]. *Le Spectacle de la nature*, or essays on the peculiarities of natural history. Paris, Veuve Estienne & Jean Desaint, later Veuve Estienne & Fils, 1732–1750. 8 tomes in 9 volumes in-12 (vol. VIII in 2 parts), contemporary full calf, decorated ribbed spine. Some damage to the top caps. As the publisher reprinted out-of-print volumes as and when required, this perfectly uniform series has varying dates depending on the volume. The illustrations comprise 9 frontispieces and 194 plates, most of which are fold-outs. These range from animals and plants to the manufacture of bells and the architecture of a galley.
