One in-16 volume, full orange morocco, decorated ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, double gilt fillet on the headbands and footbands, interior lace, original covers preserved [binding signed CHAMBOLLE-DURU]. Spine slightly faded.
A fine illustrated edition, featuring a frontispiece and 8 illustrations by the Chilean painter Santiago Arcos, engraved by A. Nargeot, comprising 4 vignettes and 4 end-piece illustrations.
A special edition produced at the request of the bookseller Conquet, limited to 225 copies on Marais-made vellum. This copy, no. 196, with wide margins, contains all the illustrations in four states, comprising three additional sets of engravings.
