Description
[China] [Canton] An album of 12 gouache paintings on so-called ‘moelle’ paper (formerly known as rice paper), depicting compositions of flowers and foliage enlivened by butterflies; each framed by a turquoise-blue silk border. Canton, second half of the 19th century. One oblong quarto volume, bound in silk with a floral design (approx. 24 x 37 cm). Some binding defects, slight losses, tears or breaks in the paper.
The colours retain their freshness very well overall.
