Description
[Indochina - Vietnam]. ALBUM OF 12 PHOTOS (228 x 128 mm) pasted on strong cardboard with a red frame, mounted on tabs and collected in an oblong in-4° album, grey cloth. Album presented to the Governor of Indochina, Alexandre Varenne, with a handwritten tribute dated 1925, signed by the architect Charles Lichtenfelder (1857-1938) whose name appears at the bottom of each photograph. These photographs, taken by Fernand Nadal, are entirely devoted to the Governor's Palace in Hanoi, for which Lichtenfelder was the architect. (Overall views, facades, private interiors, dining room, banqueting hall, etc.). These photos are particularly sought-after as the palace was completely looted during the sack of Hanoi and the Indochina War. It is currently used as the presidential residence. 4 plans of the palace drawn up in Hanoi on 31 August 1900 are attached.
