The Preface in Dialogue, which Rousseau completed in the spring of 1759, was published on 16 February 1761, at the same time as the first edition of *La Nouvelle Héloïse*. This is the original Dutch edition.
Included with it is: A Collection of Engravings for *La Nouvelle Héloïse*, with the subjects of the same engravings. Paris: Duchesne, 1761. In-12, frontispiece, 12 engraved plates, 47 (1 blank) pp. Bradel-style cardboard binding.
First edition published on 9 March 1761. 12 separate copper-engraved plates after Gravelot by Choffard, Le Mire, Saint-Aubin, etc.
Rousseau would have preferred these plates to appear in the first edition of *La Nouvelle Héloïse*, but he resolved to have them published separately.
