Description
Albert LEBOURG (1849–1928), French Impressionist painter. Signed autograph letter addressed to a ‘Dear Sir’. Paris, Friday 25 May 1900. 2 pages in-12 (slightly folded in four, ink faded on a few letters).
The painter says he is ‘at a loss as to what price to ask for these old studies from Algeria’, and adds: ‘as I have undertaken not to sell them until some of my friends have seen them, I shall not put any up for sale until further notice [Lebourg stayed in Algeria between 1872 and 1876]. He states that he had mentioned this very morning to the attendant at the Algerian pavilion [presumably at the Paris World’s Fair]. He asks where he can obtain a ticket for the Orientalists’ exhibition.
