[Posters]. CHÉRET. MAINDRON (Ernest). Illustrated Posters. [Paris], Librairie Artistique H. Launette, 1886. In-4, X pp., [1] fol., 160 pp., plates, figs., green Bradel-style half-cloth with corner pieces, smooth spine decorated with a gilt fleur-de-lis, brown leather title label, covers preserved [Small bookbinder in Bazas] (slight scuffing to corners and spine). A fine volume illustrated with 30 plates: five facsimiles (three double-page colour plates, one double-page black-and-white plate included in the pagination and one single-page colour plate) and 25 separate chromolithographs (21 by Jules Chéret, two by A. Choubrac and two by L. Choubrac). The text also contains 65 black-and-white facsimiles, 36 of which are full-page. Limited edition of 525 copies: one of the 500 on vellum (no. 236), the only paper used after 25 copies on Japanese paper. A copy with generous margins, featuring, in addition to the two-tone covers, the illustrated front and back covers preserved as a single piece. Provenance: Freddy Ghozland (1938–2014), author of works on iconography and collections (stamp at the end of the volume)
