Description
[Manuscript]. [Normandy, nobility]. A SURVEY of the nobility of the Generality of Caen carried out by Mr De Chamillard, Intendant, in the year 1666. Copy of a register from the Intendancy. Late 17th – early 18th century. Small quarto, ink on laid paper, bound in a sheet of parchment with a cord (the cord has come undone; water stains have weakened the paper). A copy of part of the work carried out by the Intendant Guy Chamillard, with a view to verifying the authenticity of the titles of nobility in use at the time in the Generality of Caen. The manuscript is written without particular care, but is very legible. It consists of a title page and 43 numbered pages, followed by blank pages.
