Description
Lucien SIMON (1861–1945), French painter and lithographer. Signed autograph letter, addressed to [Charles] Masson in Strasbourg [autograph envelope enclosed]. [Paris] Thursday evening [postmark March 1907]. 2 pages in-12 (fold mark where folded in four, small tear in the margin with no loss of text).
He confirms a message he sent by telegram, stating that he agrees to sell ‘the still life of the lobster for the sum of 1,400 francs’ [...] a sum which he considers more than ‘generous’. He adds: ‘the appreciation you show for my painting touches me in that sensitive spot which every painter hides in his heart’ [...]. He regrets that he is unable to make the planned journey and laments: ‘Will I ever see the spire of Strasbourg now?’.
