Description
Ignacio ZULOAGA (1870–1945), Spanish painter. Autograph signed condolence card. Biarritz, 3 [or 9] August [1910?].
The painter thanks his correspondent for the letter and says he is deeply touched that he thought of him ‘at this sad time [i.e. the death of the painter’s father, Plácido Zuolaga, 1834–1910]. ‘My father was a great artist. He was of the same calibre as the greats of the 17th and 18th centuries. His likeness, his character, his life and his work will surely endure. With him, I have lost a great source of strength.’
