Description
DALI. FREUD (Sigmund) Moses and Monotheism. Translated from the German by Anne Berman; [preface and illustrations by Salvador Dalí]. Paris and Nice, Art & Valeur, 1974. Large folio (65 x 50 cm), loose-leaf in an illustrated cover, comprising a frontispiece, a title page and wood-engraved illustrations within the text, all based on works by Dalí; in a book-shaped slipcase of full red leather (70 x 58 x 10 cm), the spine with five raised bands bearing the title and the artist’s name in silver, the upper cover adorned with a large relief figure of Moses by Dalí, modelled on Michelangelo, and gilded.
A very fine, very well-preserved copy of this spectacular volume.
The main illustration consists of 10 original colour prints by Salvador Dalí, printed on lambskin, each measuring 64.5 x 50 cm. All these plates bear the painter’s original signature.
The plates and text are presented in two half-leather folders with Plexiglas covers.
Limited edition of 300 copies: one of the 280 printed on Rives ‘Fantin-Latour’ vellum paper, and amongst these, one of the 25 non-commercial copies, marked with the letter ‘O’, signed by the artist on the margin.
