CELINE, Louis-Ferdinand: Albert SEROUILLE: Bezons through the ages. Published in Paris, 1944. E.O. A precious copy belonging to Céline’s lawyer, Maître André Damien, who has bound into it a long handwritten letter from Céline, written in Denmark and referring to this book. In the margin of the preface is a bookmark in Lucette Destouches’s own hand; she gave this copy to Damien so that he might annotate the writer’s defence against his accusers. The whole is bound in 12° red chagrin, with a spine featuring five raised bands, a provenance inscription on the front cover, a slipcase and a case (binding signed ‘Faki’).
