Description
CELINE Louis-Ferdinand: Cast of his right hand. On 2 July 1961, the day after the writer’s death, Dr Andrι WILLEMIN, who had certified the death, instructed the practitioner Léon BERTHAULT to take a cast of his right hand – the hand with which he wrote. We present here one of the rare examples cast by the Susse workshop. Bronze with a brown patina, 27 cm long and 10 cm wide. The foundry’s inscription and a note on the end of the bronze read: ‘cast of the hand of L.F. Céline made on his deathbed.’
