Contemporary fawn-coloured veal leather with a grained finish, smooth spine with decorative lettering, red title and volume number labels, gilt framing on the covers, gilt edges (slight scuffing to the binding, marginal stains). The atlas alone from the French edition of J. G. Stedman’s *A Voyage to Surinam and the Guianas*, translated by P. F. Henry, published the year following the original English edition published in London in 1796. It comprises 44 plates, including a portrait of Captain J. G. Stedman, as well as geographical maps, plans, views, and depictions of costumes, flora and fauna, drawn on site by Stedman. Sabin, 91083.
