Description
MANUSCRIT. -La Carolinéide, ou Naissance de son Altesse Royale Monseigneur le Duc de Bordeaux. Historical poem in eight songs. Suivi des Cérémonies du Baptême de son Altesse Royale, chant historique. By Guilliez, rue Geoffroy l'Angevin, Paris. Paris, s.d. [c. 1820]. Manuscript in-8, aubergine chagrin, decorated with gilt fillets and a black listel, smooth spine decorated in the same way, gilt edges (Binding of the period).
Poem written on the occasion of the birth of Henri d'Artois on 29 September 1820, son of Charles-Ferdinand d'Artois and Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Sicile, duchesse de Berry. The Duc de Bordeaux (1820-1883), also known by his courtesy title "Comte de Chambord", was a pretender to the throne of France under the name Henri V.
