IMPORTANT COLLECTION of booklets on the themes of natural history, the French colonies and the fight against alcoholism, comprising: - 11 booklets from the ‘Les hommes d’action’ series, published under the patronage of the DUPLEIX Committee in Paris. L. GEISLER Collection. Illustrations by Louis Charles BOMBLED, including 6 engravings on Indochina: the Battle of Son-Tay, the capture of Ninh-Binh by Ensign de Hautefeuille, the ambush at Hué, the defence of Tuyen-Quan, the Lang-Son affair and the execution of pirates, and 5 engravings on the French Indian Empire: The founding of Surat by Caron in 1668; the English handing Madras back to La Bourdonnais; Naser-Sing killed by the Nawab of Canoul, who beheaded him; Dumas receiving the widow of Dost-Ali; the siege of Trichinopoly; and the death of Dupleix. – Approximately 30 booklets on the French colonies, published under the patronage of the DUPLEIX Committee in Paris. L. GEISLER Collection. Illustrations by G. DASCHER, including the annual fair at Nossi-Bé, a flotilla off the coast of Senegal, the Crampel massacre, the bombardment of Tamatave by Admiral Pierre, and various other scenes. -Approximately 50 booklets on animals, some bearing the publisher’s mark: C. CHARIER in Saumur. -13 booklets on ‘our enemy, alcohol’, published by Paul AUGUSTE-GODCHAUX in Paris. Late 19th to early 20th century. All in their original condition.
