GNEDICH, P.P. (1855–1925) Istoriya iskusstv s drevneyshikh vremen [History of Art from the Earliest Times]. St Petersburg: A.F. Marx, 1885. [10], VIII, 506 pp.: ill.; 28.5 x 19.5 cm. Contemporary full cloth binding, with a gilt leather title label on the spine. Good condition. Slight wear and soiling to the binding; a tear in the cloth along the spine. A monograph by the Russian historian and art historian Pyotr Petrovich Gnedich (1855–1925), tracing in detail the evolution of art from antiquity; it formed the first part of his subsequent monumental three-volume work.
