LAZAREVSKI I.I. (1880–1948) Sredi kollektsionerov [Among Collectors]. 3rd ed. Petrograd; Berlin: Z.I. Grjebine, 1922. 221, [3] pp.; 13 x 9 cm. Small-format edition in the publisher’s ornate cardboard binding. Good condition. Heavy scuffing to the binding, edges and corners of the covers; tears along the spine. Ivan Ivanovich Lazarevski (1880–1948), art historian, critic, book designer and antiquities expert. From 1921 to 1924, he published the journal ‘Sredi kollektsionerov’, the only periodical of its time devoted to ancient art, collecting, conservation and the study of collections. This volume covers the main areas of Russian antiquities collecting. The author pays particular attention to rare books, discussing the rarest editions as well as the old Moscow booksellers whose names are associated with an entire era.
