Description
VASILY KANDINSKY (1866–1944)
Typewritten letter signed ‘Kandinsky’. Neuilly-sur-Seine, 3 November 1934
1/2 folio, in-4. 26.5 x 20.8 cm. In German.
Good condition; paper slightly browned.
Addressed to the widow of the collector Heinrich Kirchhoff, who had died a few days earlier: ‘... A great many artists and sincere art lovers will remember our dear friend and patron forever. A sincere and profound love of art is not part of everyday life, especially in times when material possessions take centre stage. Kirchhoff leaves a great void for us all, and (with his death) this enthusiasm has come to an end. With warmest regards, also from my wife, yours most sincerely’.
