BOULGAKOV, M.A. (1891–1940) Master and Margarita: a novel. 2nd paperback edition. [Frankfurt am Main]: Possev, [1974]. 498, [2] pp.; 15 x 10.5 cm. Publisher’s softback binding in burgundy imitation leather, titles gilt on the front cover and spine. Very good condition. Slight scattered soiling to the binding. The novel was first published in the USSR in the journal ‘Moskva’ in 1966–1967 (issues 11 and 1), with numerous cuts made by the censors and editorial alterations. In 1967, the first uncensored edition was published in Paris by YMCA-Press; in 1969, an edition from Frankfurt am Main presented the text in a unique format, with the censored passages printed in italics.
