Michel Schetter, a Belgian cartoonist and scriptwriter, was born on 26 September 1948 in La Louvière.
After starting his career in teaching, then working in a bank, he turned to comics.
His first story (a ‘Belle Histoire’ by Uncle Paul) appeared in *Spirou* in 1973.
He then became an assistant to Tibet, and later to Christian Denayer. From 1977 onwards, he illustrated numerous short stories in the magazine *Tintin*, before embarking on *Les Années de feu* (a collection published by Lombard in 1982).
In 1983, he featured in the magazine *Circus* with *Cargo*, which he created as a writer and artist. That same year, he illustrated *La Dernière Auberge* for Bédescope. For the same publisher, he began *Le Château d’Ichor* in 1984 and *Le Boulevard de Marilyn* in 1985.
That same year, he wrote the script for *Yerushalaim*, illustrated by Emmanuel Moynot and published in *Vécu*.
In 1986, once again for Circus, he created *Berlin*.
In 1991, he founded his own publishing house and launched the *Yin-Yang* series. Since 1993, the *Cargo* and *Berlin* series have been the exclusive copyright of Michel Schetter.
The *Cargo* series is being reissued by Schetter Éditeur under a new title. In June 2005, Schetter Éditeur published the autobiography *Sabre au Clair*, an account by an independent author containing some truly mind-blowing reflections!
