Description
FISCHER – BLÉRIOT TOY AIRPLANE – 1910–1920 – Germany, Heinrich Fischer
A rare mechanical Blériot aeroplane with flapping wings, made from lithographed sheet metal and depicting a monoplane, produced by Heinrich Fischer in Germany in the early 20th century.
It features superb construction in polychrome lithographed sheet metal with a green openwork frame, red and yellow wings, a metal propeller and a pilot in the cockpit.
The design is a direct homage to the pioneering aircraft of the heroic aviation era of the Louis Blériot period.
The aeroplane rests on a landing gear (minor restoration) with metal wheels and retains its original mechanism. It has a very striking visual presence, with an aesthetic typical of early German aeroplane toys.
Dimensions: approx. 14 x 24 x 28 cm.
As is; minor damage to the wheels.
