Michel Tapié (1909–1987) was a renowned French art critic, theorist and curator, and a leading figure in the Informel art movement.
He wrote and published major art books devoted to the Catalan painter, notably the reference work *Joan Miró: Œuvres 1916–1968*, published in the early 1970s by Hachette-Fabbri.
As a champion of the avant-garde and contemporary art of his time, he extensively commented on, analysed and highlighted Miró’s artistic and graphic output.
