Description
Covered inkwell - Davât
Eastern Iran, Khorassan, probably 13th-14th century
A cylindrical bronze or cast brass vessel, partially inlaid with silver, with an interlocking lid topped by a bulbous knob. The body is decorated with two horizontal registers of inscriptions in kufic script on a background of foliate arabesques. Three rings connect the lid to the body.
Size: 9.5 x 8 cm; (3.7 x 3.1 in.).
