HENRI DUHEM (1860–1941), ‘Figures by the River’, 1923, Oil on panel, signed lower left and dated on the reverse. Provenance: Private collection. H: 19 W: 24 cm Note: Associated with the Post-Impressionist movement and the Étaples School. From the 1980s onwards, he developed a sensitive body of work dominated by landscapes, nature scenes and gardens. His free and luminous brushwork is reminiscent of that of his friend Henri Le Sidaner.
