Rare ceremonial saddle. Woven in fine tapestry, probably at the Manufacture royale de Beauvais, 18th century, after 1713 - H.115 x W. 134 cm
Embellished with a coat of arms: Azure a chevron Or between three escallops Or on a chief Argent a Prussian eagle issuant Sable langued Gules and crowned Or. Baronial crown and crowned DV monograms set against a royal blue background. These are the arms of David Vasserot (1690-1727), son of Jean Vasserot, a bourgeois from Amsterdam. They were both created barons by King Frederick William I of Prussia: David was created a baron on 20 May 1713 - David became a citizen of Geneva on 6 December 1715 and bought the barony of La Bastie-Beauregard sur Venoix in 1719 and the lordships of Les Vaux in 1720 and Vincy in 1724 (Vaud) (heraldic research: Philippe Palasi).
The whole is surrounded by two narrow borders with a white background.
The ceremonial saddle is presented in a later gilded wooden frame.
